Our multidisciplinary team approach to cancer treatment brings the entire care team together to create an effective treatment plan for each patient. Our oncologists, surgeons, radiologists and pathologists meet on a regular basis to evaluate potential treatment options and to develop the best plan of action to treat your cancer. This multidisciplinary approach allows for the integration of our advanced technology therapies with the many other programs and support services offered at the Mountainside Hospital Cancer Center.
The Mountainside Hospital Cancer Center uses the latest technologies to provide the most accurate diagnosis and staging of your cancer. We use the following tools to diagnose and monitor different types of cancers:
Clinical Research The Mountainside Hospital Cancer Center is proud to be a clinical research affiliate of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey. As a community hospital, we recognize the importance of staying close to home to receive cancer care and treatment. Through our affiliation with The Cancer Institute of New Jersey, our patients will have the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge clinical drug trials and research protocols without having to travel outside of their community. Genetic Counseling In collaboration with The Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the genetic counseling program at the Mountainside Hospital Cancer Center provides services to individuals and families who may be at risk for hereditary cancers. An initial consultation with a genetic counselor will help determine the likelihood that the cancer in your family is hereditary. The counselor will help you better understand available testing options and provide referrals to other health care professionals if needed. Radiation Oncology Services Our board certified radiation oncologist and highly trained staff offer the most technologically advanced radiation treatment options available, including:
New patient orientation classes are offered for individuals starting therapy. Patients are introduced to the multidisciplinary team involved in all aspects of their care and are educated about their treatments. Medical Oncology Services The Cancer Center at Mountainside Hospital is home to two medical oncology practices specializing in medical oncology consultation and follow-up services, as well as infusion therapy and chemotherapy services. Our board-certified medical oncologists also offer services in private offices located within Essex County.
