Atlantic Health Names Presidents for Its Hospitals

Morristown, NJ– Joseph A. Trunfio, Atlantic Health president and chief executive officer recently announced that the leaders of Atlantic Health’s Morristown Memorial Hospital and Overlook Hospital have taken on new roles as both hospitals enter a period of expansion and growth. Joanne Conroy, MD, executive vice president, Atlantic Health, was named president of Morristown Memorial Hospital, where she had been chief operating officer. Alan Lieber, vice president, Atlantic Health, was named president of Overlook Hospital in Summit. Dr. Conroy will expand her system-level role as executive vice president of Atlantic Health. This will include a focus on the expansion of the Atlantic Sports Health initiative, and Atlantic Health's relationship with the New York Jets, who have named their new Florham Park, NJ, training facility the “Atlantic Health Jets Training Center.” She will also be involved in a broadening of ambulatory care services for Atlantic Health. Dr. Conroy came to Atlantic Health as Chief Medical Officer in 2001 from the Medical University of South Carolina, where she was vice president of medical affairs for the University and senior associate dean for the College of Medicine. She became COO of Morristown Memorial and Atlantic Health executive vice president in 2005. Alan Lieber moves into his position as president of Overlook at a time when the hospital has seen a surge in patient volume, and has broadened its services particularly in advanced neurosciences and oncology and emergency care. Lieber came to Overlook Hospital in 2003 from Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, where he was vice president of operations. Prior to that, he was vice president, surgical, neurocare and cancer services at the University of Maryland Medical System. During Lieber's tenure at Atlantic Health, Overlook has transitioned from a community hospital to a regional medical center, continuing to meet local community health care needs, while also providing more advanced medical programs such as those within the Atlantic Neuroscience Institute based at Overlook. |
Digital Mammography Now Available at CentraState

Freehold, NJ – The Women's Health Center at CentraState Medical Center now offers digital mammography as the newest ally to fight breast cancer. The high-tech system provides superb images and greater exam efficiency for patient comfort. A digital mammogram is like getting a traditional film screen mammography, but takes less than half the time. While both methods use compression and X-rays to generate images of the breast, the new technology allows a radiologist to view structures within the breast tissue and manipulate the images on a high-resolution monitor The Women's Health Center at CentraState offers technical expertise and customized health education and counseling services. Designed to ease the uncertainties surrounding mammograms and any subsequent diagnostic procedures, the Center features a female staff that understands women's medical and emotional needs. The Center provides a breast health specialist who is a public educator on breast diseases and cancer detection. In addition to mammography, the center also offers stereotactic needle biopsy. |
Social Worker at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center Honored by the Cancer Hope Network

Morristown, NJ - Diane Haley, MSW a social worker at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Atlantic Health was recently presented with the Cancer Hope Network's “2008 Flame of Courage Award.” The criteria for nomination is "an individual who has demonstrated outstanding strength, courage and spirit in their personal battle with cancer; or an individual or group that has inspired hope and who through their help has made a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer."
