The Preclinical Imaging shared resource provides investigators with a centralized,
high-quality and cost-effective facility for anatomic and functional in-vivo imaging of small animals.

The specific objectives of this shared resource are:

  • To provide high-resolution anatomic and innovative functional imaging of small animals in the context of pre-clinical cancer biology and treatment studies.
  • To consult on experimental design and use of anatomic and functional animal imaging modalities.
  • To develop novel methods for co-registration of anatomic and functional imaging
  • To cultivate innovative strategies for functional imaging and metastatic tumor cell tracking.
  • To assist with or provide processing and analysis of image data
  • To incorporate a central structure for image data management and transfer.
  • To provide an ongoing system of quality testing and validation

The Preclinical Imaging shared resource of Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey is a specialized service facility that supports the cancer research efforts of our members.

This facility is supported primarily by the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) from the National Cancer Institute.  Additional support may be provided from other sources, such as chargeback systems, institutional funding and/or other grants. The support from the CCSG allows the facility to provide benefits to Cancer Center members, such as ensured access to services or subsidies to user rates.
