Rutgers Receives $10 Million Gift to Advance Treatment of Cancer Patients



A $10 million anonymous gift will help transform cancer research at Rutgers University and will enhance collaboration between Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and RUCDR Infinite Biologics aimed at helping advance the treatment of patients with rare and resistant cancers that don't respond to standard therapies. The gift will strengthen the university's research and clinical practice of identifying genetic abnormalities that make tumors cancerous and using those details to fine-tune treatment.Learn more

Each year, Inside Jersey releases a list of the state's top physicians in conjunction with Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., which publishes America's Top Doctors. Clinical Trial Explores Vaccine-Based Treatment for Prostate Cancer



Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey is one of several worldwide sites to offer a clinical trial examining the investigational vaccine-based treatment PROSTVAC in some prostate cancer patients. Led by Cancer Institute medical oncologist Mark Stein, MD, assistant professor of medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, the immunotherapy study explores whether PROSTVAC improves survival when combined with another treatment.Learn more

Examining Low Cancer Screening Participation by South Asians



In an effort to learn why South Asians in New Jersey have low participation rates when it comes to some cancer screenings, researchers at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey are conducting a study to further explore this issue. The goal is to use the information to develop a program to help increase screening participation by this population.Learn more
