Physician Profile

Ravi J. Chokshi, MD, FACS
Surgical Oncologist
Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey at University Hospital

As the Chief of Surgical Oncology and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, I am committed to providing the highest level of care for my patients with a wide range of tumors, including cancers of the gastrointestinal tract (liver, pancreas, esophagus, stomach, colon, and rectum), peritoneum, melanoma/sarcoma, and endocrine surgery. I combine my surgical oncology expertise with state-of-the-art cancer care, including robotic surgery, to offer treatment to patients in need of complex cancer care and those considered "untreatable" at other institutions. While a cure is my primary objective, what is paramount to my mission is improving quality of life by maintaining dignity and preserving normal function.

Prior to my Surgical Oncology fellowship at The Ohio State University, I completed a Minimally Invasive Surgical Oncology fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center and completed my General Surgery Residency at Seton Hall.

I am a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, the Association of Academic Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Society of Surgical Oncology. My research focuses on biliary structures with underlying malignancies and cancer care disparities.

Clinical Expertise
