Within the barrier facility of the New Research Building, the Shared Resource has a procedure room containing a state-of-the-art microinjection system capable of both pronuclear as well as blastocyst injection. This system includes a Nikon TE2000S inverted microscope equipped with DIC optics, two Eppendorf Transferman NK micromanipulators, Eppendorf Celltram injectors, and an Eppendorf Femtojet injection controller. Additional equipment includes two Leica-L2 stereomicroscope for embryo handling and re-implantation, a CCD camera and color monitor for training, and a Napco CO2 incubator for embryo culture. Within the CABM building, the Shared Resource has a laboratory and tissue culture area that is well equipped for standard molecular biology tasks and for ES cell culture. This laboratory contains standard equipment for molecular biology (MJ Research PCR machines, gel electrophoresis tanks, Bio-Rad GelDoc system, -20°C freezer, refrigerator, liquid nitrogen storage, microcentrifuges, etc.), and an area for tissue culture (containing two tissue culture hoods, Napco CO2 incubator, table-top centrifuge, Gene-Pulser electroporator (Bio-Rad), Nikon TS100 inverted microscope and Bio-Cool III (-800C) Controlled Freezer for embryo cryopreservation and a REVCO). |
