  • Computational biology: developing mathematical methods to understand the underlying genetics of human diseases and the molecular epidemiology of disease-causing organisms.
  • Cancer genomics: studying the evolution of clonal expansions and unregulated cell growth in cancer, especially in the context of disease transformation and relapse.
