Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick serves as the flagship hospital of Rutgers Cancer Institute providing inpatient cancer services by a dedicated team of oncology-focused healthcare providers including certified oncology nurses, pharmacists, discharge planners and social workers. The hospital's cancer program has been accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. With 103 beds dedicated solely to cancer patients, RWJ offers wide-ranging oncology-focused services including diagnostic, laboratory and pain management as well as spacious private rooms with hotel-like amenities. In addition, RWJ works with Compassionate Care Hospice to provide four inpatient hospice beds to ensure a smooth transition from acute care to home hospice care. For pediatric patients, The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital houses the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit. The Steeplechase Cancer Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset enables patients to see their doctors, undergo outpatient treatment and participate in promising cancer research studies – all in one place close to home. The three-story, 63,000-square-foot facility houses radiation therapy services, infusion therapy, breast imaging services, including 3D mammography, lung cancer screening program, smoking cessation services, the medical center’s research team, oncologists’ and surgeons’ offices, oncology rehabilitation services, complementary medicine services, nutritional counseling, patient navigator services, a patient resource library and the Sanofi US Wellness Boutique. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton integrates a medical oncology practice with leading surgical and radiation oncology specialists and palliative care from Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Built beyond the walls of the hospital, the outpatient cancer center provides added convenience and comfort for its patients, including designated parking and an infusion center that overlooks healing gardens designed by the renowned Grounds for Sculpture. Integrated services through the center include nutrition, pharmacy, genetic counseling, physical therapy and rehabilitation and integrative therapy and holistic practitioners. Nurse navigators provide added support and education from diagnosis through treatment and works with Compassionate Care Hospice to provide inpatient hospice beds when needed. The oncology program is accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer and the breast program is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. A planned expansion of the center is currently underway, which will provide patients with a new radiation oncology suite outfitted with state-of-the-art technology. Learn more
