Research Interests
- Psychological and biological basis of tobacco dependence. My research addresses three broad aims: 1) to identify proximal factors that maintain or renew cigarette smoking, 2) to identify or develop interventions to alter these proximal factors, and 3) to facilitate the dissemination and delivery of evidence-based smoking cessation treatments. I study tobacco addiction, in particular, due to its public health importance, as smoking remains the leading preventable cause of death in the U.S. and an important modifiable risk factor for diverse forms of cancer.
