About Me

I am a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in Neurosurgical Oncology. I obtained my medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed my neurosurgery residency at the University of Virginia. Following completion of residency, I completed a fellowship in Neurosurgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Following my fellowship, I served as the Director of Neurosurgical Oncology and Stereotactic Radiosurgery at George Washington University. During this time, I was recognized by my peers as a Washingtonian Top Doctor for 5 consecutive years. I then joined the faculty at West Virginia University as Associate Professor of Neurosurgery as well as the Director of Neurosurgical Oncology – Eastern Campus. Recently, I joined Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School as Professor of Neurosurgery. I also serve as the Division Chief of Neurosurgical Oncology at Rutgers Cancer Institute. In this effort, I lead a multi-disciplinary team and robust translational research program as well as a clinical trials program. I have several clinical research interests in neuro-oncology and have published greater than 130 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. I also co-authored the textbook Cold Plasma Cancer Therapy as well as 17 book chapters. I am a pioneer in the use of new healthcare innovations such as virtual and augmented reality to improve the outcomes of my patients. In addition, I serve as mentor and educator to both medical students and residents at Rutgers University.

I have established myself as a national and international expert in the treatment of patients with brain and spinal tumors. I am a member of both the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and have served on the AANS/CNS Joint Tumor Section Executive Committee for the past 9 years. I have served as a reviewer for numerous medical journals and currently serve as Academic Editor for the journal PLoS-One as well as an Associate Editor for Operative Neurosurgery. I serve as a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.

I am a true clinician-scientist working from the bench to the bedside as I perform translational research in an effort to provide a direct impact on advancing treatments for my patients.
