Why Choose Us for Your Endocrine Cancer Care?

Committed to Innovation and Excellence

We are dedicated to providing high quality, patient-centered surgical care. Our holistic approach to care encompasses diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management, ensuring each patient receives personalized attention and optimal outcomes. At Rutgers Cancer Institute, we go beyond conventional methods by offering innovative solutions such as radiofrequency ablation for thyroid nodules, providing minimally invasive options for patients. We are committed to excellence and a focus on patient well-being, and we strive to deliver comprehensive and compassionate care.

Experienced in all Types of Endocrine Disease

Our team includes nationally recognized, fellowship-trained, experienced endocrine surgeons. We offer the full spectrum of endocrine surgical operations for tumors of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands including minimally-invasive operations.

Thyroid Cancer

Thyroid cancer is the ninth most frequently diagnosed malignancy in the United States, and its incidence is increasing. Fortunately, most thyroid cancer can be treated with outpatient surgery to remove part or all of the thyroid gland.

Hyperparathyroidism

Hyperparathyroidism is the number one cause of elevated blood calcium levels. Although asymptomatic in many, hyperparathyroidism can cause bone loss (osteoporosis) or kidney stones. We offer minimally invasive surgery for hyperparathyroidism guided by parathyroid hormone testing in the operating room. Most patients go home the same day.

Adrenal tumors

Adrenal tumors may produce hormones or may not. These are increasingly common but are, fortunately, almost always benign. Our team offers minimally invasive surgery for appropriate adrenal tumors. We coordinate all needed testing before surgery in addition to any needed management around the time of surgery or after your operation. In rare situations, adrenal tumors may be malignant. These can be either adrenocortical cancer or a tumor that has spread from another primary cancer.

Radiofrequency Ablation for Thyroid Nodules

Our surgeons offer radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for benign thyroid nodules and hyperfunctioning thyroid nodules. RFA is an FDA-approved treatment for symptomatic benign thyroid nodules. This is performed in our office and is an option rather than surgery for selected patients.

Patient-Centered Care

We work collaboratively with our patients and multidisciplinary team to help you understand your options and choose the right course of treatment. Incorporating shared decision making, we guide our patients through recommendations and surgical treatment for benign, malignant, and hormone-producing endocrine tumors.
