About Me
I am honored to be part of an exceptional team of physicians and scientists at Rutgers Cancer Institute. As an associate professor of pediatrics at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, specializing in pediatric hematology/oncology, my focus spans developmental therapeutics, neuro-oncology, and solid tumor malignancies. Leveraging my clinical care and research background, I am dedicated to advancing innovative therapies for childhood cancers, particularly by developing novel treatment strategies for young patients facing aggressive or treatment-resistant cancers.
Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience in managing pediatric brain tumors, neuroblastoma, sarcomas, and other solid tumors, as well as hematological malignancies. My passion for translational medicine - bridging the gap between laboratory discoveries and bedside care - has been the cornerstone of my work. I have had the privilege of designing and implementing numerous early-phase clinical trials that have brought cutting-edge treatments to children with cancer.
After completing my medical education at Ross University, pediatric residency at Stony Brook University Hospital, and Pediatric fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center, I have spent over two decades treating children with blood disorders and cancer. Each day, I am humbled by the opportunity to serve patients and families, bringing both my clinical expertise and the latest scientific advancements to provide the highest level of care.
My cancer research journey began during my pediatric hematology/oncology training at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center, where I investigated mutated oncolytic viruses as a way to target cancer cells. This experience deepened my understanding of how to deliver therapies that effectively destroy cancer while minimizing toxicity to healthy tissue. During my tenure at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, I spearheaded the development of the Advanced Therapeutics Program, which introduced early-phase clinical trials for pediatric patients. Additionally, I championed molecular tumor-targeting therapies in collaboration with Jackson Laboratories. I look forward to further advancing targeted therapies and immunotherapies that can improve outcomes for children with cancer, especially those with central nervous system tumors and solid tumors or cancers that have become resistant to current treatment.
In addition to my clinical and research responsibilities, I am deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of pediatric physicians and continuously improving the health journey for our young patients. I actively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to foster innovative approaches to cancer treatment. I have held leadership roles and contributed to several professional organizations, including the Children’s Oncology Group, the Global Neuroblastoma Network, the American Association of Cancer Research, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Indian Pediatric Oncology Group. Through these roles, I have contributed to developing treatment strategies and advancing scientific research for childhood cancers globally.
My passion for improving outcomes for children with cancer, particularly in neuro-oncology and solid tumor malignancies, is matched by my dedication to providing patient-centered care. I am excited to be part of an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and a leading pediatric institution in New Jersey.
