Two RWJBarnabas Health hospitals earned recognition as Best Regional Hospitals, ranking among the top hospitals in New Jersey and the competitive New York metropolitan region, with additional hospitals in the health system recognized as High Performing in Common Adult Procedures & Conditions.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) in New Brunswick and Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC) in Livingston each ranked No. 6 in New Jersey and No. 23 in the New York Metro Area.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital’s Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center and Rutgers Cancer Institute was recognized as a top 100 cancer program in the United States and a top ten program in the New York Metropolitan area. The program earned the new “silver badge” for its superior services and clinical outcomes, a designation that was introduced this year by U.S. News & World Report for Cancer and three other specialties.
This year, U.S. News & World Report announced its 2026-2027 Best Hospitals ratings after evaluating hospitals nationwide across 15 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions. Best Regional Hospitals demonstrated superior outcomes and excellence across a broad range of clinical services.

U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions; only 16% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals designation.

To determine the Best Hospitals, U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s performance based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience. The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care.
