Dr. Racquel “Kelly” Kohler received her MSPH in Health Policy and Management and her PhD in Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She lived and worked in Malawi as a Fogarty fellow to conduct her mixed methods dissertation study on advanced breast cancer diagnosis. Dr. Kohler completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Cancer Prevention at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Researchers from Rutgers Cancer Institute, with RWJBarnabas Health and in collaboration with investigators from MD Anderson, discovered a novel triple immunotherapy combination, targeting checkpoints on both T cells and myeloid suppressor cells, that dramatically improved anti-tumor responses by reprogramming the tumor microenvironment in preclinical models of PDAC.
During September-December 2022, the Pre2 CAP (Precision Prevention of Prostate Cancer) Laboratory contributed to scientific knowledge on multilevel strategies for reducing burden of prostate cancer in diverse populations. Dr. Iyer presented preliminary work on associations between prostate tumor tissue markers of inflammation and neighborhood environments at the International Society of Environmental Epidemiology in Athens, Greece. He also presented on work of the Pre2 CAP lab at local meetings of the Community Health Advisory Board and Science Cafes.
