Research Interests

  • 1) Data science and systems modeling for environmental and public health: Multiscale simulation of interacting environmental and biological systems, including contaminant transport and fate in multiple media and impacts of climate change. The work combines mechanistic process modeling with big data analytics, employing interpretable machine learning and knowledge-guided AI with enviroinformatics, socioinformatics, and bioinformatics tools. 2) Exposure and risk analysis
  • Environment-wide association studies: Individual- and population-level modeling of multiroute exposures to chemical, radiological, and biological agents across settings and life stages. These agents range from photochemical oxidants, persistent organics (such as PFAS), pesticides, solvents, metals, and nanomaterials to spores and pollens. This work includes socioexposome-wide association studies that employ spatiotemporal data and network analytics to develop uncertainty-informed diagnostic and prognostic risk assessments for carcinogens, neurotoxicants, allergens, irritants, and endocrine disruptors. 3) Computational toxicology
  • Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics: Mechanistic modeling that links xenobiotic uptake to internal dose and biological response. This work spans virtual tissues and organs as well as computational systems pharmacology and toxicology.
