Collaboration with George Washington University: A correlative study of personalized patient derived xenograft (PDX) modeling in patients with aggressive cancers

This study is in collaboration with George Washington University, with our team here at Rutgers providing de-identified biospecimen and data to facilitate the research goals of the George Washington team.

Our primary purpose of this study to provide a reliable cancer model for our basic cancer research and for novel drug testing. This patient-derived xenograft model will be established in the following steps: tumor specimen collected from discarded tissue after surgery will be subcutaneously implanted into immune-deficient mice. The xenograft tumor growing in mice will be collected. A small piece of its will be continuously implanted to other mice to maintain the growth. The remaining tumor tissue will be subjected for preliminary/further in vitro analysis and/or for generation of primary cancer cell line.
